UTMR running shoe - advice

#1

Question: Anybody having any advice to share regarding what shoes to bring.
1.) Rough profiled for wet and soft terrain or
2.) for more moderate all round conditions?
Any informed advice is highly appreciated…:o)

I’ve used Inov-8 Roclite 295. http://runrepeat.com/inov-8-roclite-295 on the training camp.
I started fine, but feet became sore after 100km. Next time I would take something with a thicker sole.

There is a lot of runnable, but also a lot of rock and technical trail.

I don’t think you need anything specific. The only difficulty I remember: there was some ice on stones in rivers (higher up the mountains)… But then again, there was no rain last year, if I remember correctly.

The conversation is happening here too: https://www.facebook.com/groups/378347959024453/permalink/528526830673231/?comment_id=528621543997093&ref=notif&notif_t=group_comment&notif_id=1472040306660045

First day last year I used Inov8 Xtalon 200 due to expected technical terrain, but changed to Altra Olympus on the last 2 days - and had no issues with missing grip. This year I might start in the Altra Lone Peak 3.0 and have the Olympus 2.0 in the dropbag in Alagna - or maybe start in the Olympus. Olympus 2.0 has a better profile than the 1.0 I ran last your, so I am not that afraid of the grip. Did the Xtrail Matterhorn 55K 5-6 weeks aho in the Olympus, and they are very comfortable and also good on the (long…) downhills UTMR offers

I would also try Altra Lone Peak 3.0 but with the stone guards in. They are a bit soft, and they can ankle roll, so I wouldn’t use when very tired, but coming down from Turlo, very good!
